Hair fall solutions this season

Read on to know what remedies you can use to treat hair fall this season:

Nutrition

Improving the diet and providing the body with certain essential nutrients is always a good idea to treat hair fall. According to registered nutritionist Sally Kravich, CNHP, many people don’t eat right, and hence suffer from hair loss.

She recommends that to combat hair fall, her patients eat about two to three 3-ounce of protein servings. Additionally, healthy sources of omega-3 fatty acids, including: nuts, eggs, fish, and seeds be added to the diet. Some other nutrients that can help with hair fall include iron, biotin and zinc. These can be added in the form of supplements, or can be taken in the form of natural foods.

Laser therapy

The FDA has approved a low-level laser device to improve hair density in both men and women who suffer from hereditary hair loss. While more studies are needed to know the exact benefit of this laser therapy, early results are promising.

Hair transplant

As the name implies, this treatment involves the relocation of skin plugs from more hair dense parts of the scalp, to the bald regions. For a successful transplant, several hundred plugs need to be patched on bald areas, which come down to about 10 to 60 plugs per session. In a few months, these transplanted follicles begin to grow and slowly no bald areas remain.

In newer procedures—follicular unit hair transplant (FUT)—hair follicles are transplanted really close together and thus give a more natural look. FUT is combined with follicular unit extraction (FUE), in which finer hair are harvested from any part of the body, like the nape of the neck, to give a more natural look at the hairline. Eyebrows can also be transplanted using this technique.

Medication

Your healthcare provider can recommend certain medications to help with the hair growth. Drugs like minoxidil are over-the-counter preparations that come in foam or liquid forms. They are applied to the scalp skin to stimulate the hair growth. Optimal time for therapy is six months, during which hair fall will slow down, and regrowth will be stimulated.

Finasteride is another drug that’s specifically for hormonal hair fall in men. It’s taken daily in the form of a pill. As with any medication, it can take a few months for the full effect to show. This drug is known to work best for men under the age of 60 years.

Drugs like spironolactone can also be prescribed by the top dermatologist in Karachi to deal with hair fall.

The effects of Covid-19 have dominated media reports and has become the overshadowing concern across households in UK. Since March 2020 when the reality was setting in that people would be forced to radically change their habits and even their livelihoods, no one envisioned that 6 months on, a second wave of infection would occur, involving further restrictions and a completely new program of lock down measures.

With this comes the concern of finding normality amid alarming news of further public service closures and unemployment rates rising rapidly.

Despite the setbacks, gaining control of our own personal selves can create somewhat of a welcome tonic to the on-going struggles and serve as a practical measure in maintaining a balanced mental health during these uncertain times.

Exercise Club

Ayden Hector is an athlete and sports writer. In response to this current crisis, he is now an exercise coach for a self-funded program to offer beneficial exercise programs for people in his home county of Greater Manchester, UK.

Understanding the importance that exercise has on physical and mental well-being played a significant part in his concept. But on closer inspection, the nature of isolation for unknown lengths of time, which is a likely prospect for Manchunians this Winter facing Tier 3 restrictions and cut backs, will see an infection of depression and anxiety across the county on a devastating scale.

Human Connection

Despite it not being a complete solution, Hector has founded a sports program intuitive that seeks to manage a mentor guided sports program for localised communities in accordance with new level restrictions in public spaces. Considering the idiom of healthy bodies making healthy minds, Hector’s central aim is to provide human connections through coaching participants in various communities across Manchester whilst adhering to rigorous social distancing rules.

Ethos


Combining training and counseling to its participants, the ethos supporting Exercise Club is affordable and fairness to health, in an attempt  to adapt to the new climate of restrictions.  With a scheduled program and actual human connection, there is a significant aspect of real time support and companionship to the scheme.
Supported by Hector’s own foundation, this program is free for all participants under national wage grades and scaled price to fit with various incomes.

 

Training Components

The actual training comprises fully of non-equipment based exercises. Mentors lead groups of up to 12 participants in their localized communities in local open spaces. Working through stages of Cardio vascular and yoga stances to maintain blood circulating and core strength, onto body weight lifts and crunches, all inside 45 min workout.

The remaining 15 minutes of the session adapts a co counseling session where participants are supported to talk through issues and concern of their anxieties facing them during the difficult times of further lockdowns.

A real difference.


Whether a beginner or relatively able and active person, the nature of Exercise club is centered around community and caring for others. Hector realizes the importance of community in a crisis and as such, the actual physical aspect of the scheme is the vehicle for a more vital benefit to its participants.
